Our Construction Creations

Over the last few weeks we have been creating money boxes and desk tidies as part of our art unit on Construction. We collected loads of boxes and containers first then drew designs of how we wanted our desk tidy to look. We had to think about what it would hold so there were enough tubes and boxes for each item. After two undercoats of white paint we finally go to colour them and add all sorts of decorations.
We are really pleased with the end result and will now have super tidy desks at home to help us complete all our home learning for Miss Lythgoe! Or save lots of money in the cool money boxes created by Logan, Max and Ollie

Dazzling Dictionaries!

Today the Christchurch Rotary Club visited the Year 4's of St Albans School to donate each child a fabulous new Illustrated Dictionary. The Rotary aims to raise money to improve their local communities through providing help in education, health and peace projects. We are so pleased and feel soooooo lucky that they have chosen to donate these dictionaries to us.

Whilst the dictionaries were presented already individually named and belong to each child we would love it if they could remain at school where we believe they will get the most use. Of course they can come home in the holidays for those really keen students!

It was interesting to learn about the Rotary Clubs Motto for Children. This is on the inside cover of each of the dictionaries.
Rotary 4 Way Test for Children
In everything that you think, say or do always remember the Rotary 4 way test!
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to everyone?
3. Is it HELPFUL to everyone?
4. Is it KIND and will it build BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
I think this is really great a little motto to live by and will be putting it on display in the classroom.

Below are some photos from the presentation this morning.
